International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) starts are electrically controlled switches used to rapidly open (break) and close (make) a circuit. Similar to National Electrical Manufacturers' Association (NEMA) starters, IEC starters are much smaller and can provide quicker detection of overload conditions.

Enclosed housings are designed to ensure that the motor is never disconnected from power during starting. Ideal for frictional loads and prevention of electrical shocks and dust.

Non-reversing starters are designed with one phase line that connects to and runs voltage through the motor. The starter is used to turn a motor on and off.
